Building my first robot Q4

hey

This question might be hard to answer but I’m trying to make a tracked robot which is solar powered and stays in a certain zone (perimeter wire). The problem is I’m new to robotics and I’m not quite sure what to do. I think I’ve got the perimeter wire thing but there are still bits that don’t make sense to me.

I think I know how to make it move but I just need help with making it solar powered and how to make it stay in a zone(perimeter wire). The robot will be half a meter tall, half a meter wide and half meter long. I know there not really a lot of information in the post so please don’t hesitate to ask me questions to get a better picture.

Hey @Da_mango1!

Welcome to the RobotShop community.

I noticed you’ve already had a few topics already here asking about some specific parts of your robot project.
I have a few key recommendations for you to help you get started:

  1. Click here and make a page for your project. You should have a few basic sections such as section with a description of the goals/requirements, a section about the hardware you currently have/and think you will need, a section on the software you’ve made/used/linked to/referred (I recommend hosting your code on GitHub and add a collaborative licence). And finally, a section about what you have currently working and what’s left to do/blocking you/etc. Of course, add some pictures, too!
  2. Go read this series of articles (link is to the first one, the other links are in the header of each article at the top).

This will make it far easier to get a better idea of what you want, what you have and where to go from there. It will also make it trivial for anyone helping you out to get the basic info about your project without having to answer half a dozen basic questions every time!

As for the articles I think they will give you at least a better surface idea of what it takes to make a robot like this work.
You may also be interested in other articles available here after you’ve read and understood those 10 starting ones, such as (in no particular order):

Sincerely,
