Welcome !
You’ll find here a vibrant community of knowledgeable and friendly robotics enthusiasts. Our goal is to offer a place which will foster insightful, respectful, helpful, and most of all fun conversations.
To reach this goal, we’ll need everyone to respect the following guidelines.
In a nutshell
- Don’t be rude or disrespectful.
- Respect the team and the other members
- Report any bad stuff
- We’ll remove all content infringing the guidelines.
- We won’t hesitate to ban people to maintain a nice community
- Last but not least, Don’t feed the trolls.
In details
Here’s a non-exhaustive list of what we deem inappropriate on our forums. This kind of content will be removed, and might get you banned (temporarily or permanently).
Remember that moderators reserve the right to remove anything that might appear inappropriate. So ask yourself “Is this bad?” before hitting the “post reply” button
Spam
It’s a big no-no. It’ll get deleted and author will be banned.
Personal attacks
Whether it’s directed to other members or staff, it’s a huge nope. It’ll get deleted and author will be banned.
It’s unconstructive, unhelpful, and makes our forums an unfriendly place. That’s not what we want.
Ask yourself how you’d react if you were called in negative terms. Not good presumably. So don’t do it.
NSFW / gross content
Clearly not authorized. If you wouldn’t share it with a kid, it doesn’t belong on our forums. And yeah, you’ll get banned.
Racism, sexism, or any kind of discrimination
Do we really have to specify that this is unforgiveable ? Instant-permanent-ban. Our community is an inclusive and welcoming place.
Trolling
Doesn’t bring much to the debate. Will get deleted, and might get you banned. Be smarter than that.
And if you see a Troll. Don’t feed it. Smash it by reporting it to moderators.
Offensive username or content
Will get deleted or username randomly changed. Don’t be gross!
Multiple Accounts / Cross posting
It’s totally counter-productive. Thus we don’t tolerate that.
Bashing / Complaining
Nothing is perfect in life. We’re here to listen and interact. But be constructive.
Don’t just come complaining for anything. Sustain your argument with facts and be open to debate and listening. And don’t infringe on any of the rules above if you want to raise a complaint.
As a rule of thumb : we’re totally open to suggestions and complaints. But be a grown-up and be smart. Bring a constructive debate.
That’s the best way to induce changes in the platform.
Don’t bash blindly. It’s disrespectful and mean and unconstructive. It’ll get you banned.
Abuses
For instance of the reporting system or any other. We’ll see it and we’ll get in touch.
“First Post Rule”
As a rule of thumb, if your first post on the forums infringe on any of the guidelines above, you’ll get banned.
See this forum as a friendly place that you’ll join to interact with fellow passionate and have great conversations. If you’re here for something else, don’t bother coming.
Moderation
A team of moderators (including community-appointed members) is roaming the forums to ensure this remains the cool place we’re trying to build
Aren’t all these rules censorship ?
That’s seeing a half-empty glass. We’re seeing it differently.
We’re striving to offer a place to foster great conversations, and will remove people or content that might harm that endeavor.
Maybe at other places you can do differently, but here this is our rules. We’ll do anything necessary to maintain that standards.
If you aren’t happy with it, we’re sorry, but we invite you to find another forum to join.
Finally, moderators have the final words on whether it’s in the guidelines or not. If they believe it doesn’t, they can take any measure they’ll believe to be necessary.
(Bottom line: don’t try to appeal their decisions).
Forum structure
- Please respect it !
- Post in the appropriate forums.
- Please keep it clean and organized.
- Please use proper and informative titles (Avoid “HELP !!!” for instance – we don’t have the time to clean up for everyone, so we might remove these posts).
