@Rick If there’s a red blinking light, it means the cat sensor was triggered continuously for more than 2 minutes. Make sure the cat sensor is connected correctly and make sure the metal bar is pressing down on the cat sensor switch.
@Andrew The problem you are experiencing is due to the power supply, we would suggest you to replace it.
The litter robbed is rotating past the point where it should and the will rotate back past the normal stop spot and then all 3 lights blink

I have a litter robot 2 and its gone hinkey. The yellow light flashes very fast constantly and the globe will not turn. We’ve already replaced the circuit board and the power supply, and nothing worked. We don’t know what else to do. Please help! Lol
Hi Darla! Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear about this.
If you purchased your unit at Robotshop, please send us an email at [email protected].
Let us know if there’s anything else we can assist you with!
We just replaced the motor. The robot senses and cycles correctly but the drum does not rotate fully to allow the clumps to dump into the drawer. I have followed the troubleshooting guide and cannot see where the issue is.
@Wyn Knittel,
Hi, can you send us a video of the robot the cycling, please?
I’ve had my LR for a couple years and love it! Recently it stopped cycling all together. Red light comes on when it detects a cat, then yellow light comes on, then green but it never moved. I’ve taken it apart and cleaned everything, making sure nothing is obstructing it. One thing I saw to check is the safety lines. It says to press it in and make sure it “clicks”. Mine doesn’t seem to “click”. Is that something I can repair alone or do I need a new motor?
Hi, When the yellow light is steady, meaning that it’s cycling mode, do you hear the motor turning?
I have the Litter Robot II. I have had it for some time. Now, after the cats use it, it turns about half way, and then, the red light comes on and stays on. The only way to “fix” it is to unplug and plug it back in – sometimes that works, sometimes, it doesn’t. I don’t know where to start checking as I do not see that particular problem listed. What do you think it might be? Thanks!
Hi,
Please check your unit for the following:
- The litter is above the fill line or in excess of 10lbs.
- CATS has not been reset after adding weight
- The waste drawer has too much weight
- The unit is sitting on an uneven surface ‐ grout lines on tile floor or in a bathtub.
- The unit is pushed into a corner, against a wall, or furniture
- Objects are resting or pressing on the unit
The red blinking light indicates CATS (the cat sensor) is detecting excess weight for more than 2 minutes. To test your changes, power the unit off and then on. Allow the unit to complete the start‐up cycle and return Home with a solid blue light. Your unit is operating normal. If it continues to flash, let us know so we can troubleshoot further.
Always press Reset after emptying the waste drawer, adding litter, or moving the unit. You can also turn the unit OFF then ON to ensure the baseline is set properly. When pressing Reset, watch for the blue light to quickly flash one time. This indicates CATS has been successfully reset.
If none of the above solves the issue:
- Remove the bonnet.
- Remove the globe
- Replace the bonnet
- Press Cycle (without the globe on the unit)
- Allow the motor to run for 5 seconds, at any point, does it stop and flash red? If no, then excess weight needs to be removed from the globe. If yes, (it blinks red), your unit will need to be repaired.
@Josué Michaud no there is no noise when the yellow light is on. The newest thing it has started doing is just a constant red flashing light. I can turn the unit off and back on and it changes to a solid yellow light but no movement and no noise.
@Brianna Loyd, It seems that there is an issue with the motor. It will probably need to be replaced. You may buy one HERE on our Website.
Someone asked “How do I put the magnets back into the Open Air 3?”
I have no idea what the reply was supposed to mean. Maybe the answer is unknown?
In any case, I too need to know…
How do I put the magnets back into the Litter Robot III Open Air?
I found the magnets on the floor while overhauling the unit and I do not know where they go.
Hi Mark,
If you are talking about the cat sensor, click HERE for the video about how to replace the cat sensor.
I replaced the motor of my litter robot II. But, the globe rotates the wrong direction and doesn’t rotate all the way. So, I replaced the circuit board, too. But it doesn’t change this cituation. Please help me.
@Noriko
From what we see, if the globe starts turning in the wrong direction, it may be caused by the sensors harness which contains the Hall Effect sensor.
Hi - I’ve had my litter robot II and it hasn’t been working for quite a while. I ordered a new motor, but that doesn’t seem to be the problem because now the cycling/in use light stays lit and nothing happens. No sounds whatsoever. I’ve checked all the connections, etc. Any idea what it could be?? I’ve also recently replaced the circuit board.
@Jamie C
Hi, from what we see, the harness wire may need to be replaced or verify if your cat sensor isn’t jammed.
