I'm creating a robot mannequin for the stage design of techno parties but I know nothing about robotics; Help!


I’m going to build a mannequin that can dance to music, it is going to be part of the stage design of a big techno party here in the Netherlands. The problem is that I know nothing about robotics and have forgotten all my high school physics stuff.

To get started I want to know how strong my servo motor needs to be to be able to lift the arm of the mannequin. The arm weighs about 3KG

Is a servo motor that has 15kgcm torque, wil this be enough?

You should also take into account the length of the arm to calculate the torque required, perhaps this tutorial can help you out:
