Hunter MiniVTail

After work I took out the Vtail Mini before the storms started. It was a bit windy but I wanted to do some flips. Anyway I got some pretty good shots, my GoPro was mounted down a bit but I did get some nice flips in - I broke off the back tail leg, so I did a toss takeoff that actually ended up really cool, I smacked a slo mo of it. I was zipping around flipping and swung around and was flipping into the wind, I realized it wasn’t going to make it but it was too late to adjust, snapped of the right front arm. So time to order another frame kit

Until the PM’s are fixed (someone is looking at the moment) let me ask here…
What do you think shoud be available as replacement parts ?

The VTail are in “Front Arm Kit” “Rear Arm Kit” etc…

Oh… we looked at your account and for some reason your where not allowed to post PM.
Now you should be ok, let us know.

I would think

  1. Main Body kit, upper/lower and top shield
  2. Front arm kit, just set of front arms
  3. rear arm kit, the 2 arms sides and the 2 in between braces
  4. Tail (or you could just include that with rear kit)
  5. Legs - most definitely a set of 3, I would end up buying a bunch of these

For now I am going to order another frame kit

OK, will look at making something like that… as well as sticker…

I have to look … but you know how it is there is time where you have too small and time too big… :frowning:
btw: spares are online on Lynxmotion and will be soon on RobotShop…

Awesome, time to order a stack of legs for the mini - I have been being careful since I picked up the extra frame kit, since I only have 1 backup leg left, they seem to be the most likely to snap off

There are arms kits which include the landing gear, and landing kits which are landing gear only…

Oh Yeah, I went out did some crazy flips with the Hunter Vtail Mini - didn’t even break a leg

Eric are you going to Flite Fest 2014!!

Anyone else going out to Flite Fest?

Unfortunately, no i am not going to the Flight Fest 2014.
It sounds like a very nice event.

Nice hyperactive video…

Mr. Nantel,

I am interested in purchasing the Mini VTail. I have a few questions.

  1. Does the hardware kit come with extra hardware? I noticed the top plate has one inch standoffs (pic on Lynxmotion Website and instructions), but there are pictures here and on RCG with shorter standoffs for the top plate.
  2. Are “Custom” Top Plates available? If so, where is the option? Again noticed multiple pictures with custom top plates.
  3. Where are you at with offering the upgraded/design changed landing gear (Pic rendering on a previous page)?
  4. Are you still working on upgrading the Motor Diameter option? If I purchase soon, would a kit be available to just replace those 8 pieces of the frame?

Thank you for your time. This will be my first MultiRotor, and I will probably have questions and need help during the build/programing stages.

Hi Tatooface,

Thanks for your interest in the MiniVTail…

  1. There is no “Extra” hardware or G10 plates in the kit. Only some screws etc. The pictures you see on RCGroups are mostly “Non Production” models that i was offering before.
Doing them at home at that time gave me the opportunity to “Customize” kits. Not possible at the moment but if you want a lower top plate the Standoffs are available alone.

  2. Like i said in the last reply, we cannot offer custom plates at the moment. Maybe once we bring the cutting In-House later.

  3. Not much have been done to do the new style landing but it will probably be an “Upgrade” for the current version once released.

  4. Same for the Motor mount, i need to think ahead to be sure it’s done right. It will probably be available as an Upgrade kit but really, this is mostly all the frame so cannot tell if it will worth it or buying a new kit might be the same price.

No problem, that’s the beauty of a Forum. Me and everyone can help people getting in the Air…

Just ordered My Hunter Mini V-Tail. With much hesitation, but I’m going for it. I’m sure I will need all the help there is out there.

Any tips on motors, ESCs, control boards, and props would be great. Wish it was a BNF kit, but here we go…

We do not have everything yet in store for the Mini… but here is a known setup.

SoundMan,

Thanks for posting your build list. I am in the process of putting together a list as well. Waiting on Pay Day (This Friday).

One note I noticed about your list (BOLD Below). I think your Battery is going to be way to big for this bird (Battery is going to weigh as much if not more than the complete air frame). From what I have seen on RCG, and here, 850 MaH to 1300 MaH is what they are flying. Also the “C” count seems to be in the 35C to 40C+ Range.

Maybe someone else can confim Lipo size?

This is what I have on my List ( hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/_50282__Rhino_1050mAh_3S_11_1v_40C_Lipoly_Pack_US_Warehouse.html )
Another Option; ( rcdude.com/servlet/the-1681/Hyperion-G3-EX–dsh-/Detail ) Lightest Weight I have seen

Awesome, thanks for the tip. Yeah from what you recommend, I def went the wrong way on the battery lol. what would the run time be on the rc dude option?

thanks again for the help

SoundMan,

MAH is the size of your “Gas Tank”, C Rating is your “Octane”. My best guess with just “Sport Flying” would be around 10 minutes. If you are doing Acro, a little/lot less. (Remember I dont have one yet, this is just from weeks of reading what others have posted)

With the battery’s it is always a catch 22. You want longer flight times, so you get a bigger battery. Bigger Battery means more weight. More weight means more power required to fly. More power means you are using electricity faster. Using electricity faster means shorter flight times…

I am hoping someone else that is actually flying will pop in and give you and I real world advice.

I remember reading a link from another thread where someone figured out that the best flight time from weight/energy ratio was where your battery was equal to the weight of your quadcopter without the battery.
