I have made some pencil tests.
Look to be off with steps per…
I have missing steps also
For the 1/16th microstep you’ll need to set the steps per to 320.
200/(1/16)/10=320
For the 1/25th case it looks like you set it up correctly.
I believe the jog speed selection is in the lower right of the settings tab? I’m not at home right now so I can’t be sure, I’ll confirm later. The slow jogging is because there are 2 jog speeds, if you hold shift while you jog then it should move as fast as the max velocity you set in the tuning window.
As for the missed steps, it is most likely due to using a laptop. I know it sucks to have to throw more money into it but a cheap desktop will almost certainly solve that problem.
This is the one I bought.

Marcham thanks again.
Yes i did a very quick auto setup and it was near 316 … but did it with some really bad mesurement instrument… lol
So yes i think 320 will be spot on (will test)
For the JOG i found that pressing the “Tab” key open the jog control with the 0-100%
That last tests where made on a freshly installed desktop pc.
So it’s not the Laptop itself and the PC is capable …
I think it has too fast acceleration, or something in the GCode is bad…
I was using LinuxCNC on my current cnc.
But my breakout for the new cnc is USB and i can’t find a way to make it work…
yeap thats a pity
Router mount and dust shoe…
Now if only the router was here…

I have found something on the YouTube…
Would like such a bath to cut with water…
Lovely machine!

Thanks Alan.
You know a thing or two about water bath like I post the video?
Hi Eric,
Excellent picture of your CNC hardware. The photo is stunning!
The bath for water cutting is very interesting. I couldn’t really tell from the YouTube; is it something that can be added to your CNC as an accessory, or would you an entirely different machine base?
No it’s something that would bolt on the table.
I just don’t know how I can do it so it’s level and have mount to attach the sheet.
First cut done…
For the mounting holes in the top plate…

I am so exited… sorry… !
The “320 step per” look perfect.
The square i cut into the top are 4" by 4" and mesure are spot on…
Thanks Marcham…!
ok… so i have problem with my CNC and it’s probably from the PC.
Tried two (old) desktop pc and get the same result.
When i move the 3D view in Mach3 it shut or trouble the communication (USB) to the controller.
I cut since on my Lenovo i7 laptop without any problem at all… i can move the 3D view all day long without any problem.
Even if i don’t touch the 3D view on the desktop pc i have random problem.
So… i have ordered a new pc.
Mini ITX size.
Zotac - D2700-ITX WiFi Supreme motherboard
Kingston - 4gb memory
Aluminum casing
Today the Mainboard and memory show up…
I will use a hard drive that i had here already… so … just hooked it to a standard ATX PC power supply and installing Windows 7… !!

Amazing!
I have a Lenovo i7 laptop (and two predecessor IBM laptops)!
I also bought the DN2800MT Mini-ITX for my current RoboMagellan project. Did you get a SSD? Very low power, something like 8W!

This is not a CNC … but it use StepMotors…

I wondered how long till you published your printer on here. Looking great.
Look forward to seeing how it prints.
Interesting machine!
I’m not used to seeing all that wood and PlexiGlas in a CNC machine!
Lovely!

Sure… it’s a 3D printer…
