I have think about that too.
Putting the weight lower to the center of gravity could benefit.
Just a bit harder since you need longer landing (which add weight on tip of arm … which is worst than the camera thing)
I fly a similar design and really … no problem at all… lol
You can’t see it the pictures but there will be a CCD camera under the plate for FPV (First Person View).
Also remember that the props are higher than the top plate…
Here is another SpyderQuad i made.
Taller landing… smaller center plates… And it was using some hand made acetal boom clamp.
Those where hard to manufacture and time consuming…
I wonder if you can buy inexpensive Carbon/Kevlar like 3/16th inch thick sheet then machine it from there?
Honestly I would love to buy one of those frames from you!
… You need to get skype I have some questions for you about my quadcopter… since yours ovbiously lifts off the ground for more then 3 seconds without failboating.
I can buy cheap carbon fiber sheet…
On the way to have a link in US to buy a good price. Also would like to setup a water bed for cutting carbon.
That particular model use 1.5mm for everything but the bottom plate which is 2.4mm. But G10 Glass fiber sheet.
It take a complete sheet of 12x24 inch and some more for the bottom plate.
That one use some already availible clamp. (For that customer)
I have my own which i make 3D print but they are a bit on the high price… so people don’t want them.
I was thinking microballon filled polyurethane. Very light and definitely stronger than a 3d print. I could probably make them for around a buck a piece(?) . Ill check it out. And they’d definitely be much grippier than delrin.
I have not fly the frame a lot myself… just no time.
There are many sold and they are putting info on the RCGroups thread (rcgroups.com/forums/showthre … st21161449)
Battery would be around 3000mah 3S LiPo (or similar depend on which motor you put on there)
500mm is for 10" size prop and 400mm is for 8" size.
The most popular controler would be a Multiwii based controller or a KK board.
I have see both in nice flight on the thread.
One person did it with a DJI Wookong and custom setting to get the VTail setup.
Yes i am more active on RCgroups than here.
Mostly because i am better at making Copter frames than i am at programming robots… LOL
But throw me any design oriented project and i can do it for you…
I would stay away from a VTail quadcopter for the first copter.
This thing have a LOT of yaw authority… And it’s a bit tricky to dial the PID value to have a good flight.
