Sounds like you havea bipolar stepper motor. You can read more about these motors here. It might also be a “variable reluctance” motor. You can tell by measuring the resistance between all the leads. You can purchase a stepper motor driver board, like this one, to make controlling the motor easier.

can u have specification about the stepper moter which i take from an old printer ,have 4 wire all are gray i am unable to find how it operate and its connection.in the backside of the moter there is a name"EM-463",is it model number…?if u have any knowledge about this please give me your suggesion…?

i need the right side cover (pictured as you stand in front of the machine) from a sharp model al1551 copier. i have a customer that lost the latch assy off of theirs and i am having difficulty locating it.
