Robotic Back Scratcher!

Hi all!

A few year back I built an x-y assembly using stepper motors and arduinos.
It was overly complicated and fairly cumbersome. (and powerful )
It was built as a back scratching robot!
The project stalled and is now a home for spiders in the shed.
I would like to complete an automated back scratcher not only for myself but other members of the family, so it would ideally be safe!!

Has anyone built something similar? perhaps a robot arm would be better?
If anyone knows of something on the market (kit form)that would be great!

Thank you?

Hello @MPG and welcome to the RobotShop community,

That sounds like a really fun project! And you’re right! A robotic arm could work, you can find many options in the Robotic Arms & Grippers section of the store. However, first you should evaluate how much torque is required to achieve a good scratch haha. Maybe this tool can help you out with that:

However, if you want to build something yourself, you can do that too. If you are a beginner I recommend checking the “How to Make a Robot” tutorial series:

Also, searching on the internet I found this project that might interest you!

I hope this information can help you out

Good luck with your project!
