ok the nano finger. it measures about 30mm from tip of finger to the end.
but unfortunately i over looked adding mechanical stop ends to the joints to hold it all together and so i came in parts and i had to assemble it just to take a photo…
as the parts are loose this assembly wont work but i have redesigned the joints and hopefully when i order it it will be ok.
Good stuff. Make a little chucky baby next? I always thought making things like this was scary. You do a very good job at making the skin and face look real.
since this i have mad a small plaster mould of the lids and then a Platsil Gel 00 cast to see how well they work.
this test has confirmed that its best to sculpt the eyes half open as it will stop the lids from bunching up when the eyes are open and should stretch nicely over the lids when closed.
Alumide is Nylon Plastic filled with Aluminium dust. This material is great for jewellery or anything that needs a futuristic look. It gives your model a matte metallic-like finish without having to pay the price of the Stainless Steel and Silver material. The Aluminium in this material makes the end result more brittle than our Strong & Flexible material i usually print with. so maybe not a good choice for printing really. shapeways.com/materials/alumide
Yeah, I’m not ready to try it yet I guess. Thanks for the offer, 'tho.
How “machinable” is your design? Did you develop with SolidWorks? I’ve now got a seat for SolidWorks, and if I get time, will try to learn a few things on it.
The actual form of the parts may be machinable, but not at its currect size.
I will tell you that its size has also defeated 3d printing. As much as it worked, then broke a few mins later. Lol
I will rethink whether to have tiny actuated hands or just concentrate on other areas.
that would require a redesign but if you wanted larger human type hands for printing there are already ones you can download and print. it you wanted machined hands then talking to DiaLFonZo might be a good step. he is very good with cnc.
