Some of you may have hear about Scout – The Autonomous Transatlantic Robot. She is a 12-foot long robotic solar-powered boat designed and built by 7 college/university students from the USA. She was launched in August 2013 from Rhode Island and programmed to autonomously cross the Atlantic Ocean

We are doing a similar thing but using an android phone. With this we get GPS, acceleration, gyro, compass, communications, time, camera, and other all in the phone. The software devlopment enviroment is much better too. To start we are just going to be near islands in the Caribbean so the phone’s roaming will be enough, no sat link.
