I feel terrible admitting that I have just now started to try and finish ordering these parts. I noticed the resistor (R-13) going to the speaker amp is listed as 4.66k ohm. I’m changing it to 4.7k ohm to be the same as many others on the board. It’s not a linear amp but a transistor switch so I don’t think the value matters much.

I’m almost done with the parts order. Finally!!! I had a question on the 5mhz crystal. You selected one from Parallax, but you made a comment “removable” and I’m not sure what this means.

The yellow LED (160-1428-1) and the surface mount transistor (MMBT6428CT) are out of stock. I’m going to try and find another LED, but I’m not sure what to do about the transistor. 
I found this at Mouser but I’m not sure which of them are the right one.

For the MMBT6428, any NPN in the correct package should work. I would use MMBT2222A-FDICT-ND.
The crystal looks like a standard HC-49US package. I expect XC1738-ND would work fine. The removable part might indicate that it is socketed on the Parallax boards.

Thanks Mike, yep the removable was simply copied from their boards, but I think it is just a standard crystal.
I would also trust Mike’s suggestions over anything I could come up with…
For LEDs, color probably does not mater in the prototypes

The parts are here. I need to inventory them in and get them sent off with the boards to Parallax for assembly. Also need to organize the information. Finally making progress.

Hi Jim,
There are PDF files up on the posting on about 4/19 which shows the board and schematics. Likewise gerber and drill files and the like. I believe all of these match the other zip files uploaded in March.

My propeller files have not changed since 3/9 (schematic) and 3/10 (layout to fix issue found at pcbfabexpress). I can forward to you the actual email to pcbfabexpress with the fixed Gerber files if that would help. Could also repost these files if that would help. Remember I found a missing connection to the FTDI chip(aref ground…).

I have papers in front of me now. I feel a bit better… Now to figure this out. I’m looking at the schematic and do not see a pin marked as ARef on the FT232RL. I thought I would mention the problem to them in case they wanted to test it.

Thank goodness for Tuesdays! I have chatted with the Parallax guy and we are on track. They are supposed to call me if there are any more issues, and I haven’t heard from them.
