The latest update says Matthew Dvorsky got the boards completed, but they are not able to communicate with it yet. I’m told they are working on it.
On a side note I got a forum PM from a certain Mike Gebhard. He was half of the ownership of Crustcrawler up until three years ago. I had no idea they split up. He asked me if we need any help with the new Prop board!!! Quite unexpected to say the least. lol
I am not sure if this is the issue, but remember I mentioned that I missed putting the ARef to ground on the FTDI chip. Also should double check I have TX and RX from the FTDI going to the right pins on the Prop. I remember I screwed that up on the first Botboarduino prototype…
It is a shame that Crustcrawler split up … If he has experience with Propellers, it would be great to have someone help out who knows them…
I reminded Mike of the issue. I hope it will solve the problem.
When I asked Mike Gebhard what I did to make Alex hate me so much, I was very surprised to hear him say, “you did nothing, Alex is just a weird dude with questionable ethics.”
It will interesting to see if this board design works, or if we need major tweaks, as I remember a thread that someone who used Parallaxs board that had similarar design had to do something like: putting in resistors in parallel with the output of the chips to handle some type of servo or motors… Will have to look that up when we get boards that are limping along.
I forgot to ask if Mike Gebhard had much experience with the propeller board design. If so it would be great to get his input on this. Also from what you said, he may enjoy helping you with this as it sounds like he may not be liking Alex to much… Also maybe help with a board or shield to handle the Robotis servos may be right up his ally.
Won’t have the boards running this weenend I’m afraid . Matthew and I didn’t communicate well and he didn’t know to install a fly wire for AGND. So still not working. He is doing homework right now and I have been getting stuff ready to send to the supplier for the BBJR, so we are not making progress on the Prop board. But he now has the marked up drawing and thinks he can work on it Tuesday night. (I don’t remember being so busy when I was in high school.)
No luck yet. We still were unable to connect to the Prop. While working with it we wound up pulling the AGND off the FTDI chip so we will have to replace the chip on that board. I added the AGND fly wire to the other 2 boards, but we haven’t got to testing them yet.
