Propeller based Bot board

Yep, you did mention in the previous post that the diodes are different. Wish I caught that one earlier as have not found good switching diode in the 0805 size… Suggestions?

I have added new columns to match some that you had in your list. Plus looked up the different ICs and the like from Digi-key… Here is the current list.

Kurt,

Yeah, it’s funny everytime you look at the data in a different way new things pop up. I didn’t see the diode or LED differences from the layout, but the diode jumped right out when I looked at the parts list. I had forgotten which LED size was on the BotBoard.

I did a quick look for an 0805 diode and also came up empty. Looking at the sizes, I think a SOD323 or 0603 package would work, at least for the prototype.

Mike

The package was sent priority mail yesterday to the P.O Box

Sounds good. Are we waiting for some test code on these TA-Hexs? I know you posted some code, but didn’t know if it was supposed to be incorporated into the T-Hex code, or just talking about it. Or should we just ship them? Thanks!!!

I thought after James had changed the pins the sensors hooked up to, that you might try the code and see if the code sensed it or not…

Kurt

Ahh ok, he wasn’t sure. So he will look at it today and ask you questions if necessary. Thanks!

:open_mouth:
What do we have here… :smiling_imp:

How on earth could I miss this thread? Or did it just became available?

Anyway, this looks very interesting! I guess this prop-board is supposed to work together with the SSC-32 board, even if the propeller is capable of doing the servo-job too.?

Looks like you were added to the secret membership. This is not anything we have mentioned in the main forums (yet). I did the port of the Phoenix code to the propeller awhile ago, which is mentioned I believe in the multi-leg forum. The code that is up there still uses the SSC-32. Can it do it without the SSC-32? Maybe. I have a different implementation of an object that drives the servos directly. I have only tried it hooked up to one leg, as I was too lazy to tear apart the phoenix or CHR-3 to hook up all 18 servos and I had enough spare parts to build a leg, which I connected to the old CHR-3 body…

Remember this is a secret.

That’s my fault - when we updated the forum, some permissions with the Moderators group were changed, and I only just noticed and fixed it!

I’ll do that. My lips are sealed.

So in other words you should have been able to see it all along. :stuck_out_tongue:

We still need to find a way to get a Bot Boarduino going…

Yep, that would be great to get done. I may play with it at some point as my guess is that Andrew is busy with other stuff these days. Wish I had some of the design files he used for the Arduino Mega board as a starting point. May want to see how many mistakes I made with the propeller board to see what not to do on the next one…
Kurt

FYI - I found a pin connection missing in my schematic that may need to be patched. That is the ARef ground, which should go to ground on the FT232 chip… Should be easy, the pin next to it is also ground…

Still ordering parts for the board. :frowning: Thanks for the note, should be an easy fix. Thanks…

Hey Kurt I’m working on ordering the parts. I was wondering if you had a schematic for this? If so, could you post a PDF or GIF of the schematic? I will also need a PDF or GIF of the component placement guide. The silkscreen on the board is ok but an image would be better. Thanks!

Hi Jim,

Here are some PDFs with images. Also a zip file that contains the Gerber and Drill files that were used to generate those boards

Thanks! Big help!

You are welcome,

Not sure if this would help or not, but they do have an export for pick/place that shows the center location of each component…

Looks good! I will include it with the other info sent to Parallax.

I made the “announcement”…

I will be happy to provide you with full credit, but let’s ease into this.
