Dammit! As usual my “tomorrow” turned out to be about 4 days later - sorry about that!
I’ve managed to finish making the new Praying Mantis PCB; I call it “B.A.O.U.S - Infinity Mantis Edition”! Where B.A.O.U.S this time stands for:
Basic Atom Oooh, very fancy board Used for Servo controlling
I’ve also got the abdomen cut out and I think it looks pretty cool but I didn’t manage to get the stickers cut out for lettering to go on it so I won’t upload a photo of that until Monday (when I’ve completed it) I’m afraid - sorry guys.
Until then, here’s some photos of the PCB. ^____^
I had some free time so I assembled the new torso for the Praying Mantis Robot - I’m sure you’ll all agree that it looks much better than the original!
I’m going to start putting it all together tomorrow but I won’t post any photos until Monday because the abdomen hasn’t been fully completed yet (as mentioned before).
I guess you’ll all have to stay tuned until then. ^____^
It certainlly is beautiful workmanship and an interesting idea, but I’m confused. Preying mantises are supposed to acquire their coloration to blend into their background. Where do you think Mother Nature will provide you a background like that?
Well RoboTed, as luck would have it, I was having a word with the forest/jungle estate agent and he showed me and Infinity Mantis a lovely sky-view apartment just perfect for my Mantis - perfect camouflage, low risk from predators, good bathroom ventilation, you know, the basics.
I got a pretty good deal on it too, what do you think? ^___^
First of all, I’ve got some good news and some sort of not so good news - I’ll start off with the sort of not so good news.
I’ll be going abroad for a month starting from this friday and I can’t take my robots with me (NOOOOOOOO!) so this week is the last week I can work on them before leaving them for a month; this has really messed up my plans for finishing the Praying Mantis Robot off in terms of programming so I’m going to try writing some code for it before I go and work on that during the month. The month will also give me a chance to start the designs on my next robot - I’m not exactly sure what it should be.
I’ll keep you guys posted with designs/ideas of course! ^___^
Anyway, onto the good news! The Praying Mantis Robot has been completed (well, 99%) - I’ve got some more important things to be doing today so the stickers will have to wait and I’m busy all day tomorrow so the only time I can cut the stickers will be on Wednesday but I can’t let you guys wait that long! So here it is!
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Robots and Humans, you need to wait any longer … I present to you - Infinity Mantis; The Praying Mantis Robot!
Just a quick spec. - 23 Hitec servos; HS-422s for the head and abdomen and the rest are HS-645MGs.
Thanks for the comment!
I’m afraid not , I’ve nagged my parents to let me bring it but it’s a no-go and I don’t seem to have any room in my suitcase, rucksack or anything.
I guess I’ll have to say goodbye to it for a month - seems like ages to be away from a robot project; I could have probably finished writing the code by then!
Well, at least I can start work on my next project (in terms of designs and stuff) - I have decided to go with my original decision and make a Dragon robot (I remember mentioning it on some other thread ); I’ve even got a name sorted out - it will be called “Moonlight Dragon”!
@KM6VV: See, that’s actually a cool name and it was easy to get to right? Hm…maybe LiDARaxx, Blackfin Hunter (maybe something related to a shark?) or perhaps even PIX3L?
