Interesting and useful project. I especially like the vibrating dispenser with a gate to stop the peppers since it doesn’t harm the peppers. I imagine you must get more than one on occassion fairly regularly just like trying to get only one peanut from a container by vibrating it is pretty hard. I wonder if having a secondary dispenser (so have two vibrating dispensers in a row) would improve that or if maybe the size and shape of the peppers makes it not a problem.
I have seen videos of vision systems that will pick peppers in the field by grasping the pepper and then cutting the stem. They had the peppers attached to a lattice structure so the peppers would hang down which made it easier. Not exactly a real world situation but interesting.
Bill, peppers are a bit challanging to deal with because of their irregular sizes and different shades of color. We were initially planning on making a rotating arm to scoop the peppers up but went with the vibrating dispenser because it was much more simpler to build. I think two dispensers might slow things down but its worth a try.
