just a quick post to say hi to everyone and i am busy building a J5 from Lynxmotion, but with a few modifications.i have been watching andrew alters project and that spurred me on to build my own.its far from finished yet but i will post some pictures of work so far.
A few pictures of work in progress on my J5 robot.there is still alot to do yet.it is a stock Lynxmotion J5 kit but with a few mods and additions.i have been watching Tyberious`s project and that spurred me on to finally build my own, which is my 8th robot project.my goal is to have the robot fully autonomous and with a pc on board.
a close up of his head.i used 10 rectangular blue HBLED`s for his “mouth” all glued together.his “eyelids” were a must and after loads of trial and error with micro servos i settled for the above,as i could not get them to move in all axis as on the real J5.
I also fitted RC shocks as in Tyberious J5 project,i used elongated mounts so the travel wasnt restricted and still holds the torso up when powered off
not quiet,id say im about 60/70% complete.i have had parts of it working but not all together.ie the webcams tracking with pan and tilt using roborealm software, the pc software working and controlling the servos, the atom software working with obstacle avoidance.i just need to tie it all together and debug
and i will post a vid when its all done and im happy with it.
yes its progressed well so far,i must say i was impressed with the Lynxmotion parts.a few more little tweaks with his “head” and that part of the build is done.
as i said earlier i wanted his eyelids to move in all axis and tried using muscle wire and micro servos but it just looked messy and made his head look too big,so in the end i settled for the above.
I ran into the same exact problems trying to add moving eyelids actually. I spent a week straight trying to get something I liked, but everything I did made the head funny shaped or too big in the process. We need like… nano servos lol.
long time since last update but have been very busy with work and had very little bot time.here are more pics and hes not far off finished, time for the programming now
