Litter-Robot III Open Air Basic Troubleshooting Guide | RobotShop Community

Hi, we have 2 litter open air’s. One started having a flashing yellow light after a cycle. And will no longer cycle after that. The red light never comes on after 2 mins. Just stays flashing yellow. Drawer is not full. If we reset it and cycle it - it will cycle normally, sometimes stopping slightly mid cycle but then continues. Full cycle happens and we get a blue light ready to go. But then next day same thing - blinking yellow light and no go until we reset it. Been happening for the past 5 days now.

I have a question. My litter robot 3 is not spinning. It shows up blue and yellow light at the same time. What should I do? Please help. Thanks in advance!

Hi,
It means that the 8 hours sleep mode has been activated.
‘‘To Deactivate it’’ just press and hold the ‘‘CYCLE’’ button for 5 seconds.

I am having issues with the air lll I just got in January 2018 with in going on and offline every few minutes. What is the fix? I have notifications every 3 to 15 minutes going off on my phone day and night.

My Litter-Robot Open Air is working great but several times a day I get notifications that it’s offline. Then a couple of minutes later it says it’s online. I’ve had it several months and this just started happening the last couple of days. It has always been in the same location. I know my internet is not going in and out because I can be watching my house camera when this happens and the camera is connected to my Wi-Fi. If I am at home when it happens, I immediately check to make sure it’s not the internet. Yesterday I received a message 14 times that it’s offline. Thank you for all your help.

@Tammy,
The Litter-Robot connected is only available in the US at the moment.
You will have to contact Litter-Robot directly for any help concerning the connectivity or WiFi issues.

Hi, my litter robot goes into the counter clockwise cycle, pauses to dump as usual but then continues going counter clockwise. It “jumps” with a loud pop when it does this and does not settle back in the home position-just keeps cycling counter-clockwise.

Hi Laura,

From what we see, it seems like the Hall Effect Sensor will need to be replaced Unless you have disassembled your Globe recently. We suggest you contact us via our support center if you have bought the robot with us and want to proceed with a reparation.

I love the concept of the litter robot but there is one thing I can’t figure out. There is terrible waste odor coming from it. I have 2 cats so I empty it every two days. I emptied the litter Saturday night. And cleaned with vinegar and replaced litter. By Sunday afternoon there was a terrible stench. By today which is Monday it smells rotten. What can I do?

@Mary Ann
Sometimes the Litter-Robot can smell. You may have to change the waste drawer bag more often to solve this problem. Also, perhaps the carbon filter needs to be either washed and rinsed, or changed. It is located inside the handle on the drawer; it pulls out from the inside on the bottom.

You also want to make sure that your cat is turning around all the way inside the globe and not missing outside the globe. If the cat IS turning around in the globe and the carbon filter is okay, you may need to purchase waste bags with an odor shield; these should be available at the local grocery store. Hefty or Glad make them.

There is also a product available called “ammo carb”. It is available at pet stores and can be put in the bottom of the waste bag and in the waste drawer.

Also if you have kittens, this could be a problem since they are young and not fully developed and sometimes it could be the food.

Lastly, if there is a lot of urine in the litter robot from your cat(s), we would recommend adding crystals to the existing litter OR purchasing one with crystals already mixed in. Tidy Cat and Arm & Hammer make such a blend. What they do is absorb the liquid.

I left a comment but I haven’t heard back from you. I was wondering if ammo-carb can be mixed in with the litter. Is it harmful to cats?

@Mary Ann You can certainly use ammo-carb directly in the litter box. Sometimes, customers are having great results with unscented litter, compared to scented litter.

Hey guys, great site. I have the Litter-Robot 3 and it rotates to the empty position and stops fine but then continues in the same direction and stops and the middle light just flashes. If I hit reset = nothing, if I hit cycle it will try and continue in the same direction and either stop or force itself and pop off track or makes terrible noises. I’ve reset it several times, cleaned it etc. I was hoping you had some advice. I figure it needs a anew sensor or switch or something.
Thanks in advance.
-Justin.

@Justin It is possibly due to the AntiPinch sensor, or the hall effect sensor.

My box is not turning on at all.

@Josh Is there any light on the control panel?

Hi, Justin here again, re: June 20 2018. It operates the same without the dome in place and just the bonnet on. It will cycle through, stop @ “empty” then continue in the same direction for a second and a half before it stops and flashes yellow continuously. I’m about to check the Anti Pinch Sensor for good contact. Is there a way to test the hall effect sensor?
Thanks again.

I cleaned the contact terminals on the anti pinch sensor and it is working like brand new.
Great website.
