My cat was intently interested in the litter robot operation. She would stand on the front to watch and sometimes bat at clumps as they went by. Eventually I just made the sensor so insensitive that she wouldn’t trigger it. Then in the evening, I’d trigger it. Not ideal but it worked. Now I have the robot connected to a timer power bar so it is powered off and on at certain times. That has been working very well for a couple of years now. Saves power, no more flashing lights from my cat confusing the machine and no issues with it rotating while she is in it.
My litter robot is over-rotating. Once it gets to the part of the cycle where the waste ports open instead of pausing and then cycling back the other direction it continues turning in the counter-clockwise direction until it has almost completely returned to the home position and then it cycles back in the clockwise position to end up at the home position. All the lights on the circuit board were blinking on the previous board so I changed it out. Still getting the blinking lights and the over rotation. I have a new harness (not installed yet), but was wondering if the sensor is bad or the motor needs to be changed.
You don’t mention the model but if it is Litter robot 1 or 2 this might help. I’m not familiar with the newer models yet but they may have the same type of mechanism as well. They all have to “dump” somehow.
Watch it cycling from the back. You will see the waste dump trigger, a knob that sticks out in a small arc’d cutout in the back. There is also some metal for a spring that releases when it cycles back.
I watched this many times trying to figure out why my globe was jumping. Broken bubble window, another story.
Anyway, it may be the protruding knob has been damaged ir is out of position or the trigger protrusion is damaged.
Here is a picture.
I do have a robot II. Same as pictured. Thank you, I will check that out.
