@Alex It is possibly a surge and damaged the electronics. We would suggest to replace the circuit board.
Do LR2 parts fit LR1? I believe I have a LR 1 (bought it in the1990ās). Itās been a super trooper but now it can spontaneously cycle on its own, or empty but get stopped randomly en route home location. Generally just the yellow light comes on when it stops. Also, the motor can āstutterā and sometimes get home or just get stuck. Thanks! BTW, just a share that may help others - -because long-term exposure of urine left the globe bottom rubber surface rough and litter was getting stuck on it. I cleaned the area and put a couple of coats of Armor-All on it and the area is quite smooth again!!
Hi Cathy,
We believe the motor or the hall effect sensor will need to be replaced.
Unfortunately, we do not sell the Litter-Robot I motor anymore and couldnāt confirm that it will fit on the Litter-Robot II.
You may also contact us via our support center if you want further explanation.
Thanks for your quick reply Philippe. 15+ years of service was amazing anyway!
Just installed a new motor. Turn on unit and yellow light comes on. Wait for green light then press cycle the light turns yellow. Motor never turns.
Hi Cecil,
This issue could be caused by other sensors such as the anti-pinch sensor or even the cat sensor.
We suggest you verify if the motor turns without the globe and also try to adjust the cat sensor with the little screw under the base.
If nothing helps, contact us via our support center so we can verify your warranty information and troubleshoot further.
Hello, my litter robot II is rotating counter clockwise between 180-300 degrees before it just reverses. It does not rotate long enough to get the dirty litter through the drawer. I have not seen it go the whole 360 degrees at all. Do you know how I could fix this? Thanks!
Hi,
If the Litter-Robot doesnāt rotate until the waste open and empties the dirty litter, there could be an issue with the wire harness.
We suggest you verify if the hall effect and sensors are well in place.
Do not hesitate to contact us via our support center for further troubleshooting.
The yellow āCycling/In Useā light is on but nothing is happening. Iāve checked #4 and #5 as suggested above but the lights donāt change. What should I replace?
Update: after taking it apart and cranking the motor, now it will stay yellow for several minutes and then all lights will blink once per second.
If all lights are blinking, we suggest you replace the motor and the harness sensor.
After 9+ years my LR2 Bubble has started to show the 3 blinking light symptom. After some troubleshooting I noticed 2 issues.

The clip that holds the hall effect sensor can come dislodged. Reinstalling it into the proper position may help.

Before replacing the sensor/harness, try pulling on them slightly and reinserting them in the connector.
After trying both options, I am now 2 cycles in without experiencing the aforementioned 3 blinking lights symptom. If you donāt find relief after trying the above steps, replacing the sensor(s) (using the harness part available here) may be your best option.
***There seems to be 3 magnets in the globe that the hall effect sensor picks up. Two seem to be less powerful than the third. The least powerful magnet seems to be the fill position, the middle strength is for the home position, and the strongest is the empty position. Note that the least powerful magnet was very slight and I almost missed it, but it seemed likely that there was a third to define the fill positionā¦so I looked carefully.
I got a used Litter Robot II from a friend that upgraded to the Open Air. It had been sitting for a 4-5 months and when I turn it on all three yellow lights are flashing. My question is: when the Litter Robot is unplugged and the globe is off, should I be able to turn the gear. It is super tight and will not budge. I will replace the motor if need be, but I didnāt know if this should turn freely.
The motorās gear is not suppose to be loose. It is normal that you cannot move it.
Unplug the unit, remove globe
Plug the unit and power it on.
Is the motor turning?
Our litter robot || no longer opens the doors to drop waste when rotating. It looks like the black nub on the back should catch and hold the doors open, but it just slips past the part that should catch it. Is this because the spring is bad, or because of something else? Is there a way we can fix it?
It is pretty hard to determine the issue of the robot without seeing it.

Hello, I have a Litter Robot 2 with wifi. I have emptied the waste from it. Turned off the robot before I opened the waste drawer, replaced the waste bag with a fresh one and turned it on without resetting it. Since then the yellow cycle light is on and the robot is not responsive to pressing any buttons, I cannot even turn it off. I had to disconnect it from power to turn off. After turning it back on it goes directly to solid yellow cycle light. Itās still frozen, its been like this for several days. Please help. It seems like the circuit board is frozen?
Have had my litterbot for 3 years this August and itās starting to give up the ghost! It stops upside down with yellow flashing light. Have cleaned the pinch sensors and completed a hard reset, any ideas as to what else I can try?
What is the solution if there is an issue with the sensor as I am experiencing the same thing and cannot get a hold of anyone. IVR just refers us to the forum.
Thank you
@tsimoes04 Can you provide any additional information about the issue? First, confirm if you have the Litter Robot 2 or 3, if itās under warranty, and describe the symptoms of the issue and what you have tried to do to resolve it.
