Hi. My Litter-Robot 3 has stopped functioning and needs to be repaired. Is this possible in the UK?
Hello @lousier,
Welcome to RobotShop community.
We are sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your Litter-Robot.
Please provide us with your order number or a copy of the invoice to check your warranty status.
Does the robot turn on or there’s no power reaching it at all?
Are there any blinking lights?
Awaiting your reply.
Sincerely,
Hi. My order no. is 615834. I bought it on 10/31/2017 so it is well out of warranty. If you look at my order no. it will indicate that I bought a refurbished Litter-Robot 3. However, when it arrived it had been sent without any packing and had been broken in transit. You therefore replaced it with a new box.
There is nothing wrong with the electrics as far as I can tell. These are the problems:
First I noticed that when the box rotated it wasn’t turning smoothly. It was almost as if there was something caught in one of the teeth of the mechanism, so the top half was “pulling” out of position slightly. I took the box apart, but couldn’t find out reason for the this to be happening.
Then the “sail” shaped piece that sits inside top of the box when it is at rest clicked out of position and fell down when it turned. I have managed to get this back into place a couple of times and get the box working again, but not anymore. It is permanently loose.
Whilst these problems were occurring there were frequent periods when the yellow light flashed rapidly and the box refused to rotate. Repeatedly turning the box off and on again sometimes fixed this. On other occasions I had to completely dismantle the box and reassemble to get it to work again.
For the past week the flashing yellow light is a permanent feature if I switch the box on, so I keep in off and simply rotate it manually by lifting the top half. This is less than ideal, so I would like to return it to you for repair. I would be grateful if you could tell me how to go about doing this - unless you can tell me how to solve these issues myself.
Thankyou!
Hello @lousier,
Thank you for your reply.
Are you referring to the internal shield when you said: “sail shaped”?
You can find a picture of it in this blog:
If that’s the part you have mentioned then you need to remove it and replace it with the beige plug as mentioned in the blog.
The internal shield is no longer a necessary part of the robot and usually even causes issues to the customers such as your case here.
You can order the beige plug from this link:
All you need to do is to unscrew the screw at the back of the globe from the outside (in the center of the black key)
Then pull the shield out and put the plug instead of it then tie the screw back to keep the black key in place.
This should fix your issues.
But also you can check the black gear which rotates the globe in case the gear was loose or free spinning.
To do so, remove the bonnet and globe then check the gear with your finger.
Let us know if you needed further assistance.
Have a lovely day, stay safe.
Sincerely,
Hi. That is exactly what I mean. I will order the plug and do as you say. Thank you! I’ll be in touch again if I still have problems, Thank you!
All the best,
Louise.
