Litter robot 3 popping sounds when cycling

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encounting.

I have a litterrobot 3 since match 2022. Last week suddenly the robot started making popping sounds while cycling. Once when it is nearly “upside down” and twice when the Dome returns to the home position.

When the Dome is removed the blackwheel is turning without the sound. Aan empty and filled Dome do make the sound and the weight in the liner is not loose.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thank you!

Hi @Leonie123 and welcome to our forum.

Could you maybe share video of the robot cycling so we can hear that sound?

Thank you.

Hi @Leonie123 ,

Yes, I could see your video.

I would suggest that you check if maybe the weight from PVC liner has fallen from it.

Here is the explanation: Litter-Robot III Open Air: The secret behind the Globe | RobotShop Community

Can you do this?

Thank you.

Hi! Great!

The weight is not loose and still attached to the lining

Hi @Leonie123 ,

That’s good.

It means there is something wrong with the black key behind the globe.

Maybe you can unscrew it and have a look if something maybe is broken there.

Hi!

Thank you for all the support. It does not seem to have anything wrong with it, and after reattaching the sound is gone. It is a little bit loose though. In the YouTube instruction on how tot replace the key they mentioned it should be tight and there should have been a spring. As you van see in the pictures i have no spring. Could this have caused the problem?

Hi @Leonie123 ,

It is good that the sound is gone.

Newer Litter Robots do not have spring inside the black key because newer globes do not have internal shield.

Read more about the internal shield here: Litter-Robot III Open Air: The secret behind the Globe | RobotShop Community

It has been determined by the manufacturer that the Internal Shield is an unnecessary feature that creates confusion and functional issues when not affixed properly. Because of these issues, it has been retired from production.

Instead, you will find a beige plug in your globe, note that this will not affect the functionality of the product.
