its safe to say that its porous and will take color. LOL
After almost two weeks of waiting for my pc to be fixed from a power issue, here is a few revisions to some of the parts, adding a rib like cavity and sternum.
What do you think??
Nice … you added the textured finish…
It could practically stand by its self as a sculpture!
I like it!
Alan KM6VV
@Eric - actually i never processed any texture to the model. That’s the result of poor lighting and rough composing.
Lol… But it works.
@Alan - Thanks. Although all this structure will not be seen after its been skinned and feathered, i did set out from the start of this project to create a visually appealing mech.
With the process of 3d printing i can make as many as i like.
Im trying to make the mech some what “universal” so that any skin or bird can be realised, without the need of creating a whole new one.
Been looking into printing the head part to. mainly so it all looks better. i think adding a hand made cast part next to those printed parts might look strange.
anyway here is the WIP for the internal mech design.
The cable housing tubes are printed directly into the head, along with eyelids.
And…
That’s quite a skull!
Yes, Way better then a cast part.
On the whole, it looks more interesting to me then feathers!
Alan KM6VV
Me to.
There will be two of these made. so if i get a chance ill run the feathered one next to the non-feathered one.
a few more changes need to be made but i hope to print by end of the month.
You probably said, but where are you having these parts printed? Not by the typical home-shop makebot I take it?
Alan KM6VV
Thanks, I remember seeing the name. What 3D machine(s) do they use?
I guess it doesn’t matter…
Alan KM6VV
They use different printing devices for different material.
But the basic white plastic is a powder process layer by layer
Wing mech 100% happy
just needs control rods.
Printed underskull 99% happy
Eyemech 50% happy
The eye mech has a few issues.
the eyelids are ever so thin and do fall out of the sockets.
also its going to be a pain to remove the powered collected in those tubes.
im going to remodel the lid mech and make cut out sections in the tubes to allow me to clear them out.
Sounds like good idea. How many servos can i run?
Eric i need a g10 case made up to house 8 servos. Will get hold of you tonight about that.
The revisions have been done to the other parts as well as a few other changes to the wings themselves. Just waiting for CASH.
i have decided not to print the eye lids as they are too thin and also attaching them to the wire would have been impossible. ill form them the same way i did with the cast head.
I have also added cut outs to the tubes to allow me to clear out the left over powder (scaffolding) so i can put the wire though. Also i have added smaller support tubes to the back of the eye plate.
Here is a just a presentation.
Humm. a few changes still need to be made but anyway…
HéHé…
At least there is a PullPull from me there…
3 of your pull-pull’s are used on this model. two for the shoulders too.
