Into rhetorical questions are you?
WOW!
I’m impressed!
…!!!
Eric sent me his files for Pull Pull Horn and Servo Adaption Cases he designed so iv added those to my model.
Thanks Eric
Just need to fund the production now. lol
Very Nice!!!
So is that an armature for your Hawk?
Alan KM6VV
I was contacted by a local taxidermist called Mike about building a mechanical armature for him to feather up. its for an Tawny OWL
We spoke about the processes he uses to create his bird mounts as i needed to get a good idea of how we wish to work, and also so i can create a workable model
He sent me a few armatures to work from as a reference.
Just so you can get an idea of the working space. shoulder to shoulder is 70mm Body L is 120mm…
Sculpted Armature and Sculpted head
Head sculpture
Skull Replica and Over sculpted urethane cast.
TEST IDEA… I may print the head instead.
I talk to Eric almost every night and we went over a few design ideas.
Eric was already 3D printing at so naturally this seemed the best way to go for this project.
Eric has kindly designed me the entire Pull-Pull System and so im really excited to get these parts “Printed”
After a few days of using Autodesk 123D i started coming up with designs for the wing mech. basically the renders iv shown already:
Mike would be requiring the bird to be autonomous or just not (RC). and may run a “Random Servo generator code” or run a selection of Canned sequences that are selected on the fly randomly by the code itself to control its “9 points of movement”.
Where and what would the processor be that would run these random selections of canned sequences? This is exactly what my a-code interpreter does, which now runs on my PC but I am thinking of porting it to a BotBoard or other processor.
dj
ill be making two.
One will be RC controlled.
The other will use (at the moment) Lynxmotion BotBoard+BAP28
By autonomous, do you want it to respond to sensors?
You can build a table of “canned” poses, then randomly select the next pose. Also use a random time between poses. Could be very similar to the way we move a 'bots legs, but no fixed sequence. Or to take it a little further, randomly select from a set of very short sequences.

**This is the unrevised test print.
A few revisions have been done since it arrived in my hands this morning. **
All parts for this project can now be viewed.
Some amendments may still need to be made to these parts and im currently only running test prints to see if the parts are correct.

Eric came up with a great idea of removing the Center body servo that controlled the Wings pitch and replace it with a pullpull mech using the lynxmotion ball bearings and the PullPull horn he has already designed.
BBH-01
I have now change the main body plate to accommodate a 3 point position Ball bearing mounting holes. The body can except the BBH-01 Ball Bearing Hub Kit or the BB-03 Ball Bearing with Flange - 3mm ID in three positions depending on what gives the best performance.
Looking real good now.
Look like something that could have been done very professionaly in a big compagny.
…
Thanks Eric. just hope the real model give the same impression.
Most probably…
Did you try to dye the parts… ?
