Hello, I am trying to get my primesense scanner to communicate with my computer and function. When I attempt to run the set up I get an error and I cannot seem to figure out what the issue is. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi Robin,
Have you installed the USB drivers for the scanner ?
It seems to have the appropriate driver and computer says the device is working properly.
For more specifics, the error code is a “critical engine error.” Any idea what that is?
Do you have the full specifications or model of that computer ?
When does it happen exactly and can you take a screenshot of that error (printscreen) ?
We will ask the manufacturer but they will ask for those information
IIID Scanner by Asus
Mac G5 running Bootcamp
Windows 7
Intel Xeon CPU W3520 @ 2.67 GHz
Ram: 16 GB
64-Bit OS
I cannot get a screen shot b/c my task bar is blocked by Gotcha.
The issue could be your virtual machine.
Maybe you can take a “picture” of the screen with a camera ?
Also, have you tried to contact the manufacturer ?
Here is a little more information from the manufacturer:
The Gotcha software has not been validated to run on (Windows on) Mac.That said, the information you provided seems to point to a problem while running code on the graphics card.In an effort to try to resolve the issue you are experiencing, you should:1. Make sure the latest drivers are installed which are OpenCL compatible. The software relies heavily on running on OpenCL code on the GPU. Please forward this file as it might provide additional information.

Attached is my log file. I am checking on graphics card issue. I have tried to contact the manufacturer, but I have not gotten a response yet. Thank you for all your help.
gotcha.log (104 KB)
Good, do you have the ability to test it on another computer running Windows ?
We have transferred the LOG to the manufacturer.
Thank you for passing this along. I did try to install the software on another computer. Gotcha’s scan tool wont even open on that machine. It doesn’t have very much ram so that may have been the problem on that one. I spoke to my computer guru here he said the graphics card in this machine was likely old and not very good. That may be our issue.
The manufacturer indeed confirmed that you graphic card is not supported. You might want to run some tests on a more recent PC.
If I were to replace the graphics card what would you recommend?
You can find the compatible hardware in the manufacturer datasheet on the product page here:

Thanks for all your help! I’ll get this handled.
