How to Make a Drone / UAV - Lesson | RobotShop Community

Now that you have decided to create your own custom or semi-custom UAV, the first step is to choose the platform. You can either choose to create your own, or base the project off a UAV frame or kit. There are many different types of frames, types, and sizes used to create multi-rotor UAVs. This guide covers the basic frame types, materials used to construct the frame, as well as design considerations. We welcome any feedback you have in the comments section below.

Thank you,
Andrew

Great Work …
Kindly upload this months article as soon as possible .

hi, i really would love to have a chat with you Mr. Andrews. I’m supposed to work on a UAV as my BSc. project and I was hoping you could give me some insights as to what i could do. I really would appreciate a feedback from you, my email is [email protected]
thanks a lot
Regards, Emmanuel Amos

Hello Coleman,
I am very greatful to you as i found this guide very useful for me. I dont have much idea of UAVs but i want to create my onw drone as part of a project with a friend. I would like to know where i can find more information about how to build my drone, I am a begginner but i dont want a RTF UAV, as i want to customize it a little!
Kind Regards,

Santiago

@Santiago We didn’t find a lot of information about building a drone, which is the main reason we started this series. Lesson 3 is underway.

Thanks for your reply!, I’m still looking info. My idea is to build an UAV that can stand a dslr camnera like canon or nikon. I guess that the normals ones liek F550 or S550 and other cant stand the weigh of such a camera. Any suggestiong about it?

@Santiago Take a look at lesson 3 regarding propulsion. It will give you an idea of the motors / propellers you’ll need given the weight of a DSLR.

I cant understand why you people release one lesson every month? Such a long wait. Your articles are awesome but atleast release one lesson every week, Trust me this site would become one stop for robot stuff . Definitely in order to visit again for remaining lessons after a month, I would definitely forget this site and people also would feel frustrated to wait for such long 30 day period. Consider this as request and release atleast a lesson every week. You Rock.

@Guruji We appreciate the feedback, but around once a month is what we are capable of at this time given other priorities.

Sir
We have planned to build a UAV for our project
But we want to add some uniqueness to it
Could you help

Greate information. Really useful

@Abhishek Patil If you are looking to create a custom UAV and would like suggestions, feel free to create a new topic on the RobotShop Forum here: https://www.robotshop.com/forum/uavs-drones-f88

Is there a manual that I can purchase from Robot Shop “How to make a drone/UAV”?

@Zen West We don’t have anything yet, but we’re keeping an eye out for sources. The fact that we could not find one is one of the reasons why we are creating this basic tutorial series.

Please sir can you upload a video i am a trainee and cant understand these but it somehow helped me lot.
thanks looking for a reply
