For the version of Spektrum DXe I have there are 6 screws holding the halves together, the antenna portion comes with the front but requires some persuasion. I removed the rubber spacer next to the battery tray allowing the battery tray to come loose and give a bit more slack to the power wires. There was then no need to disconnect the connectors - just move the back slightly to access the joystick adjustment screws.
