Globalfly 2 apm control box

I have a storm rc-x5 and can’t find any information for the control box for the quad. For instance what are the additional open ports on the controller for the are marked a,e,r,t and how can I hook up radio telemetry for andropilot or cam I hook the telemetry for this quad. I’m obviously a noob at this and would appreciate any help I can get. I also would very much appreciate any info on hooking up my go pro clone to this quad. Thanks for anything you might have!

You can get the manual provided by the manufacturer in the “Useful Links” section of the controller as we sell it alone now:
GlobalFly Flight Controller w/ GPS (APM Compatible)

The manual for the X5 is also available HERE.

Does someone succeed in pluging an 3DR telemetry means to the globalfly APM of the storm RC X5? on which plug? which wires?
thanks for the support

Hi DavidGoud,

We have not tested ourselves but the port “TELEM” should be the one to use.
Since it’s an APM 2.6 clone you can follow the user guide here for the software setup.

Hello,

By simply pluging it to telem nothing happened and nowhere in the doc we can find the pin allocation for VCC, GND, TX,RX… I don’t know if the standard cable delivered with my telemetry is OK. I will try with usb port adding a usb to serial card but it seems not a robust solution.

We tried the assembly here on the GlobalFly flight controller.
The cable that come with the 3D Robotics Radio is not right, it need to be changed. We used the cable supplied by GlobalFly to understand the pinout.

Use the 3D Robotics 6pin to 5pin cable and change the 5pin side like on the picture bellow. (note the connector orientation too)
Using this cable, we were able to connect with Mission Planner wireless with one of the Radio connected on the computer.

Have you been able to make that connection ?

Not yet because I sent back the telemetry parts as some led never switch on.

Ok, let us know once you can test them back.

One additional question. Playing with mission planner, i lost the original configuration of thé apm. Any chance to reset. Do you an configuration file available?

We do not have a copy of the original configuration.

I have been able to reset properly the APM and seems to be OK when usb is plugged on computer. BUT a new issue pop up… no way to start APM just with LiPo. Battery is charged, a sound is emitted when battery is plugged, but LED is not flashing as if no power came into the APM.
JUst for information I changed nothing on the hardware neither touch the wires. From outside all look fine.
Any idea.

The connection your Radio module could have damaged the board internal voltage regulator.
The sound you hear come from the motors?

Yes sound is coming from the engine.
How radio module could have damaged the board.
I received the copted for Xmas. it has been bought on your shop the 16/12/2015. what to do if the board is damaged? I have the “Facture”.

Since the Radio module was connected wrong, it could have damaged the internal regulator inside the control board.

Can you post some pictures?

I will do tonight.
Which kind of photo do you need. overall? detailled?
we can’t see nothing from outside but no problems I will do what you need.

Of the wiring coming to the flight controller mostly.

Here they are:

nothing changed from beginning:

Have you tried to reset the board from the start ?
Which LED is not flashing exactly ?

using mission planner I did click on Reset to default.
Since then no LED (big one, small one by transparency,…) are flashing when on LiPo
but all are working properly when plugged with USD
