July 21, 2013

This is a ultra light weighted version of the Cosma robot, especially trimmed for the weather balloon launch. It just weighs 140 g without the battery and shield.

Markus, that’s a very light

Markus, that’s a very light version. How much weights the battery? Did you use LiFePO4 batteries before? What can you tell about them? What qualifies them against LiPo’s to get build in to Cosma?

Yes, I have used LiFePO4

Yes, I have used LiFePO4 batteries before for our weather balloon experiments. Advantage: longer life time, good power density, much safer. The battery I want to use is similar to this one: http://hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/_17955__HobbyKing_1500mAH_LiFe_3S_9_9v_Transmitter_pack.html

It weighs 118 g.

maybe I will give it a try

maybe I will give it a try in one of my next projects. Thanks o/
