CNC Machine

Well, if it’s got a plug…

I hadn’t remembered that, but maybe they’d rev’d the product.

Speed control from the Gcode is nice, but takes more hardware. You can certainly do without it, I have!

I DO like to be able to turn the spindle on/off under program control.

Alan KM6VV

I will most probably explore that.
Didn’t dig into it since i have so much to learn.
But there is certanly a “Relay” inside

Update of the update…

Should have it friday…

Interesting that one of the vertical members is in two pieces.

Alan KM6VV

No… It’s just a grove.
He use scrap metal

If you look closer you can see its one solid piece but it has be routed down the middle. Comparing the top of each vertical part you can see that the other one is also routed out.

OK, I can see it now.

Alan KM6VV

She is there…

Sweet, looking good!

thanks
can’t wait to try it.

It’s too clean! Start making some chips!

Really, it looks great!

'Hope you don’t let the little one make chips! ;>)

Alan KM6VV

Ok… ordered bigger motor today…
Little one are no longer enough to support that extra weight

bigger steppers, or bigger spindle?

Alan KM6VV

Steppers… 269oz from Xilotex

that’s a pretty good size. What did you have before?

I run 180’s (as I recall) on my mill.

Alan KM6VV

I don’t have the torque spec put it’s around 116oz
Here is what was on the CNC

Yeah, a little weak for a router/CNC. Although OK on a CNC’d Sherline lathe. For some reason, it takes less to drive the ways on the lathe (although the parts are the same). Both X and Z axis are now horizontal, and the cutting is by single point HSS cutters, maybe that makes the difference.

My first CNC drives were even smaller, although it worked, I changed to my current 180 oz/in drives, and a much nicer microstep driver.

P.S. Got Phoenix Sim, although the adapter dongle to my Futaba is junk! The stereo mini phone plug just falls out. Wife should be ordering the TREX 450 in a few days. See you on the field!

Nice to know… keep me posted about the T-Rex… !
If you need any help…

How do these look to you guys?

It’s tough finding hobbyist type CNC routers in Australia, and shipping from the US is >$300 :frowning:

Small… lol

But if you don’t mind you can look at this one
goodluckbuy.com/cnc-diy-3025 … oller.html

Which is free shipping :open_mouth:

I don’t have one of these… but it look good to me.
