LOL…
G-Code with Vectric is so easy…!

I need to strait my table. I only use 2 mounting screw at first. just to try.
One corner is higher that other… make some strange cut. lol

Ordered some bearings to change the bushing on Y and Z… :frowning:
Too much difference between multiple parts…

Some MDF cutting…

Looks like your gcode is working, and you’re cutting MDF!

Yes… dust removal part

If you have access to a McMaster Carr book, you can buy .2 lead ballscrews for around $30 for the ball nut and $2 and inch for the screw. The screw end can easily be turned in a lathe after you heat the end with a torch to fit your support bearings.
The ballscrew and nut will give you about .006 TIR if my memory is still working. You can use two ball nuts to set up a double nut with a preload to remove any runout. Here’s a picture or two of a cnc I built a few years ago and never used. It uses the same ball screws I described above.
Also, you can purchase t-slotted table plate like the picture shows from Techno-Isel. It’s pricey, coming in about $375 a meter but it’s well worth it when you start clamping fixtures down.
For a DIY router, my preference is go with Gecko drives. The G540 is a 4 axis drive that’s super easy to use and will plug right into the parallel port on a computer. All you have to do is add motors and a power supply to the G540 and you’ve got a really nice setup that works great!
A note on using a Dremel as your cutter: The Dremel won’t hold up. I’ve built routers in the past for folks with Dremels and they were never happy with the Dremels ability to cut. A 1-3/4 hp Porter Cable router can be had on ebay for less than $100 new and it’ll be happy running a 1/2" cutter through your MDF (careful, I learned the hard way that MDF dust can ignite if the router bit gets hot!),
Hope some of this helps.

Playing with 2mm aluminum sheet this morning…
No, it’s not an aluminum bit… LOL

Nice work! I like the way you’ve made four legs bolt together.

Alan KM6VV

Ok… i know it’s not the first time i say that…
But i have buy things to upgrade yet again…

current setup:
X axis is on 20mm linear rod and bearings
Y axis is on 1/2 linear rod and bearings
Z axis is on 1/2 linear rod and bearings

Upgrade:
Y and Z upgrade to 20mm rod and bearings…!

I have too much “Bend” in the Y axis rod so… upgrade…

I have also ordered a K2 Bosch Cold mount and will buy a Bosh Cold router…

The Colt is a good router, I have one on my small PCB router.

It can use a better collet. I ordered one from PreciseBits, Think & Tinker.

Alan KM6VV

Thanks for the info Alan…
I will need to order one like that. i have 1/8 bit that will need a collet anyway.
They have a kit with 1/4 1/8 nut and wrench…

Yes, I have both 1/8" and 1/4". Don’t forget the collet nut!

I might have bought a kit, as I got “collet care” with it.

Alan KM6VV

Ok

And how is the router ?
It was that or going way bigger with a Hitachi full size router …

Cheaper that way…

This is a small, purpose-built router of my own design. It’s OK. Built mostly because I had the lead screws and ways, and I could!

Here are the drawing for upgraded Gantry…!

Good looking gantry!

Alan KM6VV

Hope it will solve my problem…
So close to a working machine… lol

Looks great eric. i hope things work for you this time.

I have the rod in hand… and man… it will take a lot of pressure to bend those 20mm rods…
19" long…
