As the title said, i’m actually interested of making a prototype that has the exact same design as those drones. But will it work and move like the in-game version?
Hello @BloodAndMetal and welcome to the forum,
Could you share a link that shows the Rainbow Six Siege’s drone movement?
Anyway, here you have the link to a page of some mecanum wheels and in the multimedia section you can find a video in which you can see the movements that can be achieved by these.
Also, I think this tutorial could interest you
first they are shaped like this:
from what i’ve seen in the game, they are able to move forward, backward, horizontally, and vertically. i have tried searching for some two mecanum wheeled drone but most uses two set (four pieces) instead and i haven’t found one that only use exactly two like the image above
Hi again,
Yes, the ones in the pictures are definitely mecanum wheels. But as you mentioned, it is not common to use that kind of configuration with these wheels because to achieve all those movements you need 4 wheels.
With only two you can go forward and backward but you won’t be able to go right and left (if that’s what you mean by horizontally and vertically), the most you can do is go diagonally. However, with a configuration of only two wheels the best you can achieve is with the mecanum wheels.
i see. so if i only use two mecanum wheel on my drone, the drone will be able to move forward, backward, and diagonally (forward-right, etc.), right?
i’m sorry if my question is a bit annoying, but i’m still afraid and not quite sure about this…

Exactly.

Don’t worry, it’s a pretty unusual configuration. So maybe you should think about how practical it is instead of how close it might be to the original look.
