Base plate for mounting robot arm

Hello. Firstly, thank you for taking time to read my message.

I am doing my mandatory internhip right now and it is first time I have to work with robots. The Task I was given is to design new, universal base plate for mounting Robot arms. My problem is that I do not know how to calculate stability of Fundament when robots is is Operation ( the design (width, height) of plate depends on this?. Can you help me what Kind of equations I have to use or if You can recommend book or article where can I find more about this?

Kind regards, Maria

Hi there,

Welcome on the forum.

Hope this can help: https://community.robotshop.com/tutorials/show/robot-arm-torque-calculator

Let me know how it goes.

Hi @STROJARKA94,

Welcome to the RobotShop community!

I’d also recommend that once you’ve determined the torque required for each joint of your robotic arm design, use motors that have about 4-5 times the stall torque (i.e.: the torque required should be 20-25% of the stall torque of the motor). This way you’ll ensure a few things, including better control and durability.

Sincerely,
