A-Pod Remake

Hello,…

in progress…

Hi,

Looking good! It’s almost like seeing my own sketches.

Keep us posted on the progress, good luck!

hi,
thanks a lot

little update of tibia

I think I found for mandibles and rudder servo alignment.
I remake the sketches of the body too.

to be continued…

Hi Alain, my name is Alan.

Interesting work you’ve got there! It will be fun to see how it all comes out.

hi alan,
ambitious too

Hi,

So far it looks very good!

A little hint, i often use French curve ruler set when drawing non circular curves like when I design the tibia.

I find them very useful.

hi Zenta.
I do not know where I put mines! :frowning:

All is handmade with saw and files.
The most difficult is to draw on the abs. use the iron to transfer the sketch does not work with the abs that I had.
I started the second leg…

I’m still missing aluminum

thanks for the hint.

To zenta:I found two of the complete set…a bit late

some progress.
I made custom part for servos sticking two pieces of abs for 6mm thickness

a lot of work and tests to do…

Lotta nice curves! Must be a pain to do with French curves. It’s been quite a while since I was taught to use them in school. I’ve got CAD/CAM for that now.

Alan KM6VV

Yes,it is. 2 to 3 hours a piece. the body 6hours.
it is a satisfaction to do it by hand. with a flat file and one round. abs sheet, is easy to cut.
I modified a mf70 but must redo the sketches.
I have not used it yet

I can see how it wouldn’t be too bad with ABS. I do some parts (decks) in PCB stock, which isn’t hard to work with a bandsaw and a file. And, you can basically “solder” pieces together; although making tabs helps.

But my primary construction material is aluminum, which requires a little more machine-shop technique to work (without a LOT of effort).

a test with abdomen joint

Is that shiny joining piece an aluminum block that’s drilled and tapped then? Interesting way to join the coxa and fimur servos!

Alan KM6VV

Hi alan,
I will do some part in aluminum. I have to order it.
