Would appreciate advice on a linear actuator setup for my project

Hello,

I’m a newbie when it comes to anything robotic. I am hoping to get some advice about linear actuators so I know what to put together for a prototype project I am building.

-I’m looking for one that will travel approximately 50-100mm. (If I do get it one that will have 100mm maximum travel, is there a way that it can be set for a certain distance that is somewhat less?)

-Need to have around 5lbs of force/thrust

-Looking for one that can be remotely triggered by a pressure sensitive device that will be in the form of a foot pedal.

-Project summarized: So they way that it will need to work is that the person steps on the trigger, the actuator comes out to the adjusted speed and force, and once the foot is taken off the pedal, the actuator then retracts (all signaled remote/wirelessly).

Any and all advice would be appreciated, thanks

It seems like you need the L12 100mm stroke linear actuator with 100:1 (<5lbs), 210:1 or 298:1 gearing and -I interface. Note that in order to control this wirelessly, you’ll need a microcontroller on either side: one connected to the foot pedal and transmitter, and another connected to the receiver and the actuator. You’ll need to program both of these microcontrollers. Not sure which microcontroller to choose, or which transmitter / receiver? Check out the Grand Tutorial Series articles.
