Hi all,
I have a little livestreaming company, and we make some nice event videos. Right now we run the company with 2 guys, and we are often booked to broadcast 2 stages of the same festival.
We use mostly fixed camera’s, who don’t change position. Sometimes when budgets are higher, we can use 1 or 2 cameramen on stage.
We just invested in some amimon connex long range wireless video, and some high capacity batteries, so we can reduce setup time dramatically and have some freedom to move our camera’s where ever we want. This eliminates the need of finding power sources, and laying cables across the venue or terrain.
I’m dreaming for a long time already to buy some PTZ camera’s in order to add some more movement to our broadcasts, but they’re very expensive. If you want to buy PTZ camera’s that perform well in low light, you need to pay a lot of money, let’s say at least 5K per PTZ. Then you got something that still requires a lot of wires to control those PTZ, which takes a lot of time to set up, and is often not practical. On a typical outdoor festival for example, you would have to dig those wires if you want them in the public area.
That’s why i’m now researching into making my own wireless pan/tilt heads t control camera movement, and some kind of wireless LANC control over zoom and focus.
I already found some interesting stuff:
-
Gentwire and gentwire plus allow to send LANC wireless, in order to control zoom and focus from a distance.
-
The PT785-S might be perfect to pan/tilt our camera’s from a distance.
What I lack right now though, is something to record, store and recall presets.
Using a normal RC transmitter, all I can have is manual control. That’s great, but off course it would be easier to have acces to some kind of panel that allows me to save a position of pan, tilt, zoom and focus and recall it when I need it.
This might be a computer program, linked to an RC transmitter, as long as I can map the presets to a keyboard or joystick, so I don’t need to use a mouse to recall them.
Ideally, the same controller should be able to control more then 1 DIY PTZ at the same time. Even better would be the ability to save sequences and play them back with the push of a single button
Anyone who knows how to achieve this whithout programming knowledge?
