I recently replaced my SSC-32 Servo Controller because I fried it but before I fried it it was working well with a Game Stop wireless PS2 controller. Now after the replacement SSC-32 Servo Controller(both are V.2 Atmega168) has been installed, my Phoenix Bot Board II / BASIC Atom Pro only control’s the Hexapod when it is wired with a corded PS2 controller. I tested the the wireless Game Stop PS2 controller on my PS2 console and it works fine. I even recompiled the phoenix_V20.prj and uploaded it again to no avail. I need the wireless function working before the end of the month, I want to demo it at the FIRST robotics competition @ UIC this year.
I am a mentor for the Mundelein Robotics team sponsored by Motorola of Libertyville il, I have been pushing the Phoenix and the humanoid robots as side projects. These types of Lynxmotion robots really capture the imaginations of the students, we need attendance up because the Administrators at our high school would really like the program to fail because it is not sports related. We get a grant of 10k from the Motorola Foundation for parts and the cost for FIRST robotics competition entrance fee. Please help!
I take it from your description that the wireless one is not working. Don’t know this controller so I it is hard for me to gave many suggestions. Things like are there lights on the receiver. The Lynxmotion wireless has two LEDs one shows power and the other, blinks when it has not connected up with the controller and once if finds the controller it shows solid…
Standard things to check:
a) Tried fresh batteries(s) in the controller? And BB2
b) Made sure that wires are hooked up properly.
c) Is the power jumper for pins 12-15 set for +5v and not VS?
Wow! Thanks for the quick response, I just ordered another PS2 Robot Controller and a PS2 Wireless Controller Receiver from Lynxmotion. It will be here on Wednesday and I will keep you posted. The original one I ordered from Lynxmotion took an 8 feet tumble from the top of my closet.
I tested all the wires with my multimeter to make sure everything was okay and everything matched up to the color diagram chart and the voltage was where it is suppose to be on both boards. When the VS power is turned on it tweets like 3 times, I press start and it does nothing. When the VS(7.2 volts) power is off and I turn on the VL(9 volt battery) on the bot board, it tweets like 3 times and when I press start on the controller it beeps then it almost wants to move wirelessly until I turn the VS power on. I am hoping the replacement PS2 Lynxmotion controller and receiver will iron these issues out. At least I can use it and demo the Phoenix tethered.
If it beeps with only the VS battery connected then you must have the VS1=VL jumper installed on the SSC-32. (This is assuming it is wired as our tutorials illustrate) Because you have the 9vdc battery and the 7.2vdc battery shorted together the result is the 9vdc battery is discharged in a rapid fashion to 7.2vdc. The result is the 9vdc battery is basically trashed. Any chance you can submit a few in focus images of the boards including the wiring? Your description above is telling a whole different story than the wireless PS2 doesn’t work…
