Wireless communication & control under water robot

I am planing to make a semi-autonomous robot with thermal sensor, distance sensor, motion sensor, position sensor, pressure sensor, Accelerometer, gyroscope, Thermal sensor, camera, and a robotic arm. That can able to search people or thing under water. This robot will have wireless control from outside. I want to see live video from outside.
Please suggest me which sensor i can use under water and what is the best way to control my robot and gatting live video. which camera give best quality video under water.

I want to control my under water robot from outside and also want to recieve live video. which communication is best for this robot.

Hi,

This is a cool project but also a very complicated one.
Unfortunately regular RF modules used for wireless communication do not work well under water. It is also affected differently if it is clear or salted water.

Common means of communication for wireless transmission underwater are often using acoustics. Unfortunately, bandwidth is very low and will not be enough to transmit video signal.

As for light , you coud potentially some kind of light or laser but you would have to always stay in line of sight and also light will be affected by the water quality and fades pretty fast.

Unfortunately, for underwater communications, the best way is still using a cable.

As for the camera, you can either use a standard camera of you choice inside a waterproofed vehicle with a transparent dome/tube or use waterproof cameras like this:

Here is the underwater vehicles that we sell. Maybe you will be able to get some inspiration from them:

Hei,

How about underwater control? Like it is just needed to communicate with adruino board to control motors and read data of sensors (pressure, IMU , laser etc).

Bluetooth wouldn’t work because high frequency or? what about wireless network?
What would be your approach if the task is to control a underwater robot inside plastic water pipes?

Best regards, Eligijus

Standard RF doesn’t work well at all underwater. A tether is always best. Consider parts used / sold by BlueRobotics:

Hei,

I fully understand that a tether is best. If I could use it I would be asking. So are there any affordable controllers out there that could be used? VLF/ELF based ones? Low data rate should not be a problem, since we are not considering to have a camera.

We’ve been on the lookout for affordable / commercial underwater wireless systems for quite a while but have yet to come across any. If you do find something, please tell us. Most prototype methods we’ve seen focus on using acoustics and have low data rates.
