Does the Wiport allow other normal LAN connectivity when the COM Port redirector is being used? My guess is yes, but I need confirmation. 
My recollection is yes but I have not worked with my wiport stuff in maybe 6 months. You can talk to its internal software via the serial port and the ethernet at the same time and they seem to be independent threads, not like one program spitting output to two different places.
Note that the non “G” versions only allow you to use the hardwired ethernet OR the WLAN port, not both at the same time. I’m pretty sure that limitation went away on the G versions.
If you really need to know let me know and I’ll wire something up this weekend to test it.
