Will this work alright for a preliminary order?

Hello all,
The eventual aim of what I’m looking to build would run a motor based on an angular deflection sensor with something like a 18-25V battery (wireless) (Could also use linear displacement sensor).

Stupid, preliminary question (link is fine): I have a fairly basic understanding of programming (C++ course, matlab, VBA) and control systems, but very little of hookups/sauntering/standard cords. Will I be able to just hook up standard run of the mill sensors off ebay?

It looks like Arduino would be a good place to start. I was thinking of getting a starter kit and messing around with programming and the sensors for a while to get the hang of it.

Would this be a good place to start? General advice would be appreciated, things I’ll run into/limitations I might run into using Arduino. Really appreciate any help I could get

Arduino is a good microcontroller to get you started. It is also compatible with most analogue or digital sensors that use the same voltage levels (5v).
