Wild Thumper and T'Rex controller

My apologies if this has been asked before. I tried to search, but couldn't seem to find anything specific on this.

I am looking to build a wild thumper 6wd (34:1 motors) with the Dagu t'rex controller. To power I was planning on using two 7.4v 2200mAh in parallel. As I understand it, I would need to set the t'rex controller to low voltage mode. Would I also need to put a high power switch between the batteries and the controller? Something such as this? http://www.jameco.com/1/1/7399-rs003hp-wild-thumper-high-power-switch.html

At present, my other concern is possibly not having enough juice for decent run times on the wild thumper using just 2200mAh.. would 5000mAh be better recommended from a single battery, or possibly two 5000mAh in parallel?

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Excellent

Thanks to you both for the responses. Yes, sorry, I mean to specify that I was looking at using LiPo’s. Was looking at the 2S, but will go with the recommendation on the 3S and 5Ah. I suppose my idea of reasonable runtime was at least 15 minutes haha. Thanks again for the recommendations!
