Wiimote controlled robot arm

I saw this online and thought it was just about the coolest thing ever usmechatronics.com/usmgarage/WiiBot.html, they basically connect a Wiimote to a computer to an industrial robotic arm. They use it to mimic the motions of the player for Mario Tennis and hooked up a tennis racket. Taking things further they mimicked the motions for Twilight Princess, and oh yes they even attached a real sword.

Anybody with a Wiimote (downloading the bluetooth drivers) and a Lynx arm and some minor programming ability should be able to do roughly the same at a smaller scale with a few days of work.

That is cool! :open_mouth:

Awww, how cute ^^ I want one!

I would so totally love to do that except for 3 problems:

  1. I don’t have a wii or wiimote
  2. I sort of took apart the lynx5 arm… Plus its sort of broken anyway
  3. I am currently busy with another project :frowning:

how industrial robots should be used at its best

real cool 8)

Whoa!

Considering the power behind your average industrial robot, even if that sword was a fake, blunt one, it could still take your arm off! :open_mouth:

Totally, and I mean totally, cool though!

Thanks for posting!
