WiFi Module

Hello,
I recently purchased a WiFiBee-MT7681 WiFi Module for my quadruped.

I have a few questions regarding the device.

  1. I am unable to find the device when looking at a list of local WiFi signals. I am sure that the device is powered on. Does this device not do this?

  2. How can I setup a virtual COM port using the WiFi module in Ubuntu?

  3. The WiFi module begins flashing slowly after about 5 seconds after turning it on and the light flashing rapidly. What does this mean?

  4. Does this device work in conjunction with a Gravity I/O, BotBoarduino, and SSC-32? Below is an image of my setup for your reference.

Thanks in advance for your assistance.
Best,
Christopher

Just following up on my previous post. I am still experiencing the same issues.

Thanks!
Christopher

I have one more question regarding the WiFi module that I purchased (WiFiBee-MT7681):

  1. Is a WiFi module required if I want to upload code to my BotBoarduino through Arduino? I was reading on this site that I need to plug in a WiFi module that will connect to my WiFi module on the robot similar to a Bluetooth connection. If so, what should I purchase on RobotShop? If it is not required, then how would I upload code to my BotBoarduino via my WiFi module?

FYI, I no longer need number 4 answered as it was answered in a different post.

Thanks!
Christopher

Please let me know if you know any answers to my questions.

Hi,

First step would be to make sure that your WiFiBee-MT7681 WiFi Module is operating normally.
We suggest you to test the Wifi module connected to your BotBoarduino only (without SSC-32 and the Gravity I/O) by following these configuration steps.
Make sure to change the Arduino example code to put your WiFi SSD and password.
After uploading the example Arduino code, open the serial monitor and see if the Wifi module is connected to your network (note that the baudrate should be 115200).
If so, you should see the IP address and the module’s LED should flash slowly 2/s.
