im a total noob at robotics, but i want to start with somthing that motivates me more then parallax sumo bot, i need some thing that i can evolve with starting with sensor + walk and so on, having a good base to build from as my experience grows.
both of these scelletons look really awesom, but which is easyest to build and get it to to walk in the shortest time ( from a begginer point of view )
I don’t know that I would classify either of these products as a “noob” platform to learn from as they are tightly assembled and fully loaded are really tightly packed with cables, electronics, and batteries. a better starter kit might be something bigger and less demanding mechanically to make work easily and properly. regardless, if you limit yourself to these two options, there is quite a wealth of information about building the phoenix in the tutorial (linked on the lynxmotion product page) and a lot of discussion about development of and around it happens on this forum. maybe there is similar content and support available for the other chassis, I don’t know, I didn’t even know it was available for general purchase (ie by non product development type people).
from the perspective of being a new user with only basic skills I would recommend looking at the level of information openly available to the general public and the amount of prepared support materials not requiring a lot of special “can I ask another question” type support. the desire for “easiest to build and get it to walk in the shortest time” suggests to me you might be better served by looking at something like the ch3-r combo kit which has tutorials and canned programs ready to roll when you get it. adding sensors and autonomous behaviors introduces a lot of options that are much harder to present as canned solutions but this is where the forums and others doing similar development work come into play.
