Which servo for a 9v system

I’m working on making a remote bird launcher. gundogforum.com/resources/Remote … rPlans.pdf is similar to what I’m doing but instead of a door lock actuator I need something quieter. I’m thinking a servo motor will do what I need. My system is 9V and it looks like most servos don’t go that high. For my purposes the motor will only have power for maybe 3 seconds at a time and then only a couple of times within an hour. I’m wondering if a servo can handle the extra voltage for such a short time? I can also put a 9v to 5v step down in but don’t want to if I can get by without it. That all said…there are so many options. Ideas?

One of these?

Hi,

Most regular RC Servos run at 4.8-6V or 6-7.4V.
9V would be too much and will most probably damage the servo even for a short time.
There is some RC Servos that will work with 12V like the [Torxis i00600 12V High Torque Servo Motor](Torxis i00600 12V High Torque Servo Motor), however, it’s not indicated if it will work normally at 9V.
You can use a step-down regulator but make sure that the regulator can provide enough current continuously for your servos under load.
