Hi!
I require your help regarding information.
Description:
Hardware concerned:
I am interested to buy this arducam camera board:
What makes it so interesting is that the description states:
- Support FREX/ STROBE feature
This would allow to use global reset mode of the ov5647 and not the rolling shutter mode.
Software concerned:
Which software can be used to capture frames whenever FREX pin is triggered?
Thank you so much in advance for your help!
Yesterday I did buy the module at robotshop and sent a question email on FREX mode support to arducam support as well.
They responded that I should use the USB ov5647 board for that.
How can that be that robotshop product description clearly states âSupport FREX/ STROBE featureâ and there seems to be no software that actually does that?!?
Short after that I got great help from Arducam support(!) and that made clear how to make use of Arducam ov5647 camera FREX and STROBE pins. I have summarized all that information and what I found out and developed later in this thread:

I ended up taking global shutter videos (making use of FREX and STROBE pins) with effective exposure time of 6.4”s(!) sofar, allowing to capture anything with less than 152m/s or 552km/h speed with less than 1mm movement during that 6.4”s. Here is sample â26000rpm propeller âglobal shutterâ video with only 11”s strobe pulse, raspivid 75 brightnessâ:
