Which parts/components should i buy to build Customized bipe

Hi,

I’m interested to build like lynxmotion.com/images/video/strut01.mpg, but I don’t know which parts/components should i need to order.

Biped BRAT is just having the legs part, but I would like to have the whole one including arms and body. But, Robonova-1 is quite expensive for me.

Thanks!

The humanoid costs over $1,000. a robonova would be cheaper. The parts needed are in the assembly guides.

…and a —>Link<— to the assembly guides mentioned above.

Ehhhh, I figured if he could find a video on the site he could find the guide pages… But thanks :stuck_out_tongue:

You can always buy a BRAT now and then slowly buy parts for the humanoid. Thats the great thing about SES! You can reuse parts over and over

That robot uses this Torso Kit…

The Torso Kits assembly guide is here…

It uses a 5DOF leg. The assembly guide is here, and the brackets it uses are at the top of the guide…

Right now we don’t have an accurate assembly guide for the arms that are on the robot in the video. But we have this arm assembly guide that is close…

You just have to swap out the forare components for the Hand Kit.

Assembly guide for the hand is here…

We used ASB-09’s in the shoulder instead of the ASB-11’s because the Hand is shorted than the tubing arm. Making this change allowed the robot to be able to get up from laying on it’s front or back. With the SES you can build a biped the way you want, not the way somone else thinks is the best. Hope this helps!

This should get you started.

Sorry for bringing back an old thread, I tried to create a new one, but cant due to links in the post.

I am in the same boat, I would really like to build this same bot, but a little bit different.

My questions are.

  1. What all am I going to need for electronics to build a functional RC robot, like the ones used in the Fighting matches at Robowars. (Besides servos obviously)

  2. Do these type robots use the software with motions created, or are they full on Radio Controlled?

  3. Software, will I need any to calibrate it and setup everything.

Thank you in advance, I am anxious to start building one soon

This was another question i wanted to ask. If this bot was controlled by RC (Which i think I found it can be with the PS2 type controller)

You can add arms etc to it, to make it a “humanoid” ??

I think the robowars “robots” are really no more than RC vehicles. If you watch the persons controlling them, they just use usually two RC transmitters.

I think he meant robo-one competitions as he is referring to bipeds.

Yes that is what I meant thanks.

What is the matter with entering in a humanoid robot into a regular robot combat event?

Last fall I entered one into a 3 kg sumo event.

It didn’t win, but it sure was entertaining. The crowd enjoyed it more that the robots that actually won the sumo event.

Though it was remote control (Playstation 2 controller with a BlueSMiRF transmitter), there is still a lot of software to control the robot.

I’d love to see video of that.

Yeah, me too. I was too busy running the robot to video tape it.

I have asked around, but so far no one has chimed in.
