Hi
I’m trying to create an anti collision system for a feed wagon’s unloading conveyer and the hc-sr04 ultrasonic sensor I’m using right now seems to pick up the dust
By dust I mean a reasonable amount of cornflake sized plant matter floating in the air
The object it’s supposed to detect is a metal pipe about 3’’ in diameter at a range of .5’’ to 3’ in -40degree weather at a reasonably fast update rate (10hz seems fast enough faster would be better)
I’m trying to find a product that would meet these criteria any help is appreciated
Thanks
Hello @derino,
Welcome to RobotShop community.
You can consider an IR Proximity Sensor like this one:
However, if the particles are too big, they might not work still.
A better option would be an Inductive proximity sensor because it’ll only detect the metallic pipe.
However, this type of sensor has a small range of up to ~2’’ max
If this works for you, you can go for it.
Let us know if you have further questions.
Sincerely,
Hey
I don’t think that particular ir sensor would work as it’s only rated for -10 Celsius it would be operating in -40 degree weather
Induction would be perfect if it had a longer range
I was wondering if this one in the link would work or maybe I should go to radar I don’t need distance measurement but would take it if no other option
Hello @derino ,
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, this option should be working fine with your task.
