Which aspect of robotics are you MOST interested in?

What factors do you think are involved (and how) in determining your (or any person’s) response to the poll?

Hey Tinman59,

Drawings, images, pictures, videos… we look forward to seeing your creations take shape and help humanity. Nowadays you need not be too afraid of programming - most of the microcontrollers we offer are supported by large communities and include a lot of sample code.

Mechanics.

Why? 4 letters:

L E G O

Thank you!

You need an “I’m electrical and mechanical” option

Being a software developer, I was, at first, attracted to the programming side of robotics especially the idea of machines that interact with the physical world. That leads to the mechanical/electriical ( mechatronics? ) side of robotics. Now math is coming to the forefront since it seems to be necessary to know a good deal of math to do anything sophisticated with a robot. Most of what I need I’ve either forgotten (linear algebra) or never knew to begin with.

Brooklyn NY. I am building bots to go to Texas. I have 23 acres of desert land in extreme SW Texas. I would like to build several “species” of robots just to dig, plant and water desert seeds in order to re-establish plant communities…later to rehab other degraded, ecologically damaged desert lands in the US Southwest… No batteries required–those bots should all be solar-powered, one of the few natural resources that the American SouthWest has in abundance. Lets convert that to robot-power!

Though I am worse than an infant in terms of learning programming microcontrollers, I am fascinated with artificial intelligence. I cant help it. I was raised on Astroboy, Eighth Man, Lost in Space, 2001 a Space Oddessy and Star Trek. They kept telling me this technological future of robots and Space travel and a benign future of peace, self actualization and prosperity was our destiny, and that robots would help us do both the dangerous and mundane. Though its looking alot more like a ]Soylent Green ]kind of future lately, I would like to work a little to make some of those more hopeful predictions come true…I am prototyping my first agricultural robot as we speak…a little digging robot with front hands like a mole…(therefore…feel free to correspond with me about agricultural robots!)
