Wheeled Robotic Platform to Support 14 lb. Dog

Hi!

I require your help regarding a problem I’m encountering.

As described in title. This dog cannot walk or stand. Is this the best forum for a question of this type? If not please advise. I was hoping this would help him get around.

Thank you so much in advance for your help!

@frank1492 Welcome to the RobotShop Community. Are you looking to buy or create a wheeled platform? Can we assume you’d like it to be RC controlled? Do you have any experience in and/or tools for mechanical / electrical design?

Any small wheeled platform will do, but should have turning capabilities and be RC controlled. I have no expertise in robotic design. I was hoping someone had built something like this for whatever purpose that I could adapt for my dog. There are children’s cars available, but they are too large (dog weighs 15 lbs) and what I really need is a flat surface to mount a small dog bed. Is this the oddest request you have ever had? Thank you for replying. Frank

No. Not by a long shot. This application is very sweet.
Smaller sized platforms tend to be able to carry up to 5 pounds, and are in the several hundred dollar range. You’re better off starting with a platform like this:

In addition to this, you’ll need a dual DC motor controller, RC remote, battery and charger.

If you’re ready to do the design yourself, you can save a lot of money, and can consider these motors + wheels:

Turning would be a lot easier with one caster, like:

You would need to design and build the frame (wood is fine), and we could guide you to the right DC motor controller, RC remote, battery and charger.
